The Canning Royal Canadian Legion will hold a yard sale Saturday, June 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Legion parking lot.

Kingsport Gala Days will be held Saturday, June 27 beginning at 10 a.m. with a community-wide yard sale, followed by a 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. bake sale, live music, coffee, tea and sweets, artists, crafts and C@psite sale-all at the Lloyd Centre; 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tides In Canteen opens at the wharf; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. canteen at the park with homemade chili; noon, fish chowder and strawberry shortcake at the Emmanuel United Church Vestry; 12–2 p.m. pizza, local sausages, hamburgers and pepperoni at the Lloyd Centre; 1:30 p.m. parade; 2–5:30 p.m. bingo at the park pavilion; 2–3:30 p.m. sport and fitness games at the park; 4:30 p.m. chicken BBQ-half chicken, salads, roll for $9 at the center-eat in or take out; 6–10 p.m. Canning Food Bank opens for donations, road barricades at corner of Medford and Pier Rd.; 6 p.m. music with “Ambush” at the wharf parking lot; 10 p.m. fireworks at the wharf-barricades up at 6 p.m. and 50/50 tickets sold all day with drawing on Sunday. Also on Sunday, Gala Days Ecumenical Church service at 9:30 a.m.
The boat ramp will be closed Saturday at 4 p.m. and no parking on Pier and Water Streets after 6 p.m.

Hall’s Harbour Canada Day celebrations will be held Wednesday, July 1 with all day events beginning with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., children’s parade at 11 a.m. followed by a magic show, silent auction, chip bingo, chicken BBQ at 4 p.m. and evening fireworks.
Hall’s Harbour pancake breakfast at the fire hall July 1 from 7-10 a.m. Menu consist of pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice/tea/coffee all for a freewill offering. Proceeds to the HHVFD. Musical guest will include Harley Corkum and Friends.
The Medford Women’s Institute is promoting “Buy Local” with the Annapolis Valley’s first “Tailgate Farm Market” to be held at Oakview Farm on Longspell Road in Kingsport beginning Thursday, July 2 from 5-8 p.m. Contact Donna at 582-1775 for further details.
The 2nd annual “Straw Hat, Antique Tractor and Machinery Display” will be held in Kingsport Saturday, July 4 (rain date July 5) at the home of Frank Woolaver starting at noon until dusk.
Forty-seven tractors were on display last year with an expected increase. There will be a cold plate lunch with strawberry shortcake, tea or coffee for $10. A BBQ and canteen will be onsite and music provided by the Kingsport Jammers and Friends.
The Pereaux Baptist Church will host a strawberry and salad supper with turkey and ham on Wednesday, July 8 from 4:30-7 p.m. Take-outs available. Price is $10 adults and $5 for children aged 10 and under.
Canning Library Book Club #6, Foul Deeds by Linda Moore, will be held Thursday, July 9 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The author will be joining the group discussion.

The Rotary Clubs of the Annapolis Valley will host the Long Island Youth Orchestra benefit concert for local youth programs at Northeast Kings Education Centre Friday, July 10 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, $10 for students or $15 for adults, can be purchased from Cochrane’s Pharmacy’s in Canning, Wolfville or Hantsport, R.D. Chisholm’s in Kentville, Fritz’s in New Minas and Stage 2 in Port Williams.
Ross Creek Centre for the Arts is offering a Counselor in Training (CIT) program for teens aged 14-17 who work as mentors to campers at the Summer Arts Camps and Teen Arts Academies, gaining valuable leadership skills by working together with senior staff members, other camp counselors and artists.
Summer arts programs are available for youth as young as five years old, Arts Academies for teens 14-18, day campers aged 5-7 can explore unique Chinese stories or create Chinese kites while other campers can join the Indian Express or come touch, draw, paint and build 3-D models of creepy crawly bugs with the Bug Fantastic program. Older kids can explore film, visual art, comic books, theatre and much more.
Teen Academies for kids 14-18 include writing, visual arts, film, theatre, dance, and the newest addition to the roster, the Graphic Novel Academy. Tickets are now on sale for Two Planks and a Passion Theatre’s outdoor production of Rockbound, based on Frank Parker Day’s gripping novel of the same name.
