The staff at Annapolis Valley Regional Library are inviting area residents to share in the second annual 12 Days of Cookies.

For 12 days in December, staff will be baking – and sharing – cookies. Each recipe will be shared online, via Twitter @valleylibs and Facebook, on the library’s website, and on its blog, “Feed Your Mind”  (http://avrlfeedyourmind.blogspot.com/).

Staff will bake a recipe, photograph it, and share the recipe and book on our blog.

“This is a fun way to showcase the library’s collection of cookbooks, especially during the holidays when many people are baking,” says Frances Newman, regional librarian.

The staff of AVRL invites everyone to take a look and see what they are cooking up Dec. 3-7, Dec. 10-14 and December 17-18.

The public can get in on the baking as well.

“Making cookies can be a great family literacy activity. Working together on a recipe shows that print is useful in many ways,” said Angela Reynolds, head of youth services.

County residents can participate by baking a cookie recipe from a book they borrowed from the library, then send the library the book title, the recipe and a picture of their cookies. Participants will be entered into a random draw for gift cards.

Selected entries will be posted on the library’s Feed Your Mind blog page. All completeentries will be entered into the draw.
