The doctors will be in soon at the former J.R.’s Lounge building in New Minas.

Kings County Community Development Services director Bill Butler has confirmed that a permit has been issued for renovations at the former drinking establishment.

The building is being renovated into offices for two local ophthamologists who currently practice in Kentville: Dr. Robert Scott and Dr. John Taiani.

Janice Scott, who is overseeing the renovation project, said they decided to move the practice to New Minas because of the advantages a newly renovated facility would offer. “We’re moving up because of a lack of space at our old offices,” she said.

Another advantage is there is a lot more parking available at the former lounge site. Scott said hopefully the move would take place this fall.
