Heavy rainfall warning issued for Kings County

The Canadian Hurricane Centre has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Kings County and area.

Rain at times heavy is expected today and early Sunday.

A trough of low pressure over the northeastern U.S. combined with the moisture from tropical storm Danny will bring rain at times heavy to much of Nova Scotia today and into Sunday afternoon.

In southern Nova Scotia total rainfall amounts of 50 millimetres or possibly more are forecast by Sunday morning with lesser amounts expected elsewhere.

Also, strong gusty southeast winds ahead of tropical storm Danny will develop across the region tonight. These winds are forecast to reach 110 km/h over Cape Breton from Margaree Harbour to Bay St. Lawrence Sunday morning and early afternoon.
