Wolfville’s Emily Anne Stewart is hoping she’ll be one of the four candidates left standing July 16 when Arrival Mag NZ cuts its short list to four.

“I never thought I'd make it this far in the competition, so now that I have I am kind of in shock.”

Stewart, who is living in Calgary, is hard at work on her next challenge, which is to create a “day-in-the-life” video.

With a trip to China on her immediate horizon, life is pretty busy for Stewart right now.

“I really need to get on top of it here in Canada. So I’m trying to get it all done by Sunday night and then send it in to them before my flight,” she said.

The 24-year-old, who has been working as a nanny, is the sole Canadian finalist. Should she win the Arrival Magazine competition, she and a friend will head to New Zealand for a two-month stint as a travel blogger.

“Once you get to New Zealand you get to help design the look for the camper you travel in. You get a phone and a camera and they just let you loose.”

Already a world traveler, Stewart has been to New Zealand once before as part of a post-graduation backpacking trip that started in Ireland.
