Dancers of all ages will hit the stage next weekend for this year’s production of The Nutcracker.

Cadance Academy’s broad age range of students - from toddlers to seniors  - will take to the stage in the seventh annual production at the Festival Theatre Dec. 1. and 2, with performances sure to get audiences in the Christmas spirit.

“We try to involve the whole community in our Nutcracker,” said Cadance Academy director Gaea Jess.

This year, the production includes local school children. Jeremy Novak, known as the Jerome the Gravedigger in the Wolfville Ghost Walks, plays the magician Drosselmeyer.

“I probably say it every year, but we have a fabulous Nutcracker this year! Besides some new choreography, costumes and props, we have a whole Choir of Angels that sings and dances!

This year the Nutcracker has the “biggest cast yet,” Jess added.

“I’m so excited to see what the audience reactions are this time around!”

This year’s cast includes Adrie Cameron as Clara; Aliah Schwartz as the Nutcracker; Emma MacDougall as the Sugar Plum Fairy; and the return of Cadance’s former student, Greg Palmer, as her Prince of the Land of Sweets.

There will also be wonderful holiday vendors with items and gifts for sale before the curtain rises and during the intermission.
