Banks of the Cornwallis River were coated in ice this morning as temperatures hovered near minus 17 C.

The rest of March 1 should be warmer, Environment Canada says, at least as warm as minus 3, with sunny skies  in the morning and increasing cloudiness in the afternoon.

There is a 60 per cent chance of flurries overnight with winds south 20 km/h becoming southwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 after midnight.

Temperatures are forecast to rise to 1 C by Sunday morning.
