Our TOPS N.S. #2688 Port Williams club received a 30-year award during their ARD (Area Recognition Days) in May held this year in Yarmouth. TOPS members in our area (Windsor to Yarmouth) lost 3,165 of the 13,344.5 pounds lost in Nova Scotia in 2008.
The organization is 62 years old, with the oldest chapter in the province being TOPS N.S. #111 in Kentville, which celebrated its 45th anniversary in April.
TOPS and KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) members in Nova Scotia have lost 3,491 pounds so far this year and if anyone is interested in joining them, they meet weekly in the Multipurpose Room of the Community Centre Tuesdays from 6:45-8 p.m.

The Annapolis Valley Regional Library's annual Summer Reading Program is underway, but there is still time to sign up. All readers through age 18 can earn a free FastPass from Summer Reading Partner, Upper Clements Park, by completing their reading goal

It’s Dinosaur Day at the library’s Kid’s Camp Wed., July 15 from 10-11:30 a.m. and in the Teen Lounge in the evening from 6-8:30 p.m. there is a games night. A Claymation workshop will be held Thurs., July 16 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The library is offering free digital camera workshops for seniors during July and August covering camera functions, uploading photos, developing and editing photos. The next session is Thurs., July 23 at 11 a.m. and will feature uploading photos.

Every Thursday in July, from 10 a.m. to noon, children ages five-and-up can enjoy the KidsArt program at Prescott House, a creative way to learn through play and take home a work of art. The cost is $6 (snack included). Pre-register with Diana Baldwin at 542-3984 by the Tuesday of that week.
On Sat., July 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Port Williams Park Committee will host a barbecue in front of Sobey’s in New Minas.

The next Music in the Garden at Prescott House will feature harpist Kristen Cory from 2-4 p.m. Sun., July 26. Relax and take pleasure listening to music in the beautiful gardens overlooking the Cornwallis River. There’s always a light breeze under the mature shade trees on the well-maintained grounds. What an easy way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Children aged 3-7 are invited to participate in a summer camp for kids from July 27-31 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Community Centre. Come for a week of Group Activities, Arts and Crafts, Sport Activities, Singing and a whole lot of fun!
The camp will be led by Krystol Bell of Trusted Care Nanny and Sitter services. The cost is $75 per child with all proceeds going toward establishing the Port Williams Community Park. Spots are limited so register by e-mailing Julia.ives@web.de.
The Port Williams Baptist Church will have a daily Vacation Bible School from Aug. 10-14 from 9-11:30 a.m. There will be lots of fun happening in God’s Power Lab.
