Exhibit open

Until September 15, "Horton Planters" at Randall House Museum, Wolfville. Open 10 a.m. to 5p.m., Tuesday to Saturday; 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission free for children under 12. Guess at some mystery artifacts and you could win a prize!

Breakfast

September 2 Not Back to School Day. Kings Retired Teachers Organization breakfast with retired colleagues. 8:30 a.m. Door prizes. Berwick Heights Golf Course, arrange to stay & play.

Luncheon

September 2 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christ Church, 238 Commercial St., Berwick. Homemade hot and cold dishes, delicious desserts, tea or coffee all for $10. Come and enjoy a great meal and a lot of socializing.

Quilt show

September 4 to October 15. Prescott House Museum. Port Williams. Open Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m to 5 p.m. People have always enjoyed the warmth and beauty of quilts, but these works of art also provide clues about the past and family heritage.

 

Supper

September 4 Fish chowder supper, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Hall's Harbour fire hall. Adults $10, child $5. Takeouts available. Proceeds for the fire department.

Corn boil and barbecue

September 4 Scott's Bay Community Hall Association, 5 p.m. at the community hall. Cost is $1/cob or three cobs for $2, hot dogs $1.50, hamburgers $3, and pop $1. Bring your favourite dessert to share at the potluck dessert being following the barbecue. Proceeds to the Scott's Bay Community Hall Association.

September 4 Valley Gay Dance at the Nictaux Lions’ hall, 9 p.m. 1 a.m. Come out and enjoy the first dance of the fall. Cash bar, all request DJ. Must be 19+. For info, call 825-3197.

Gala Days reunion

September 5 2 p.m. at Berwick's Centennial Park, the Berwick Gala Days 2010 Princess Committee invites past Gala Days queens and princesses to a reunion. Freewill offering.

Craft group

September 8 Hobby crafters (a non - denominational group) begins for another season. Ladies of all ages are welcome to come for a fun time of fellowship, sharing, learning and crafting.  If you have any craft ideas, please bring them along. Annapolis Valley Giant Vegetable Growers Club

Your Way to Wellness

Do you have a chronic health condition? Bingos

Band practice

Every Monday night, the King's Community Concert band rehearses, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., in the hall of St. Paul, St. Stephen Church, Main St., Kentville.  The band does both parades and concert performances, is looking to expand and is inviting interested musicians to check us out.

Washer toss

Every Friday night, Royal Canadian Legion, Berwick, 7 p.m. start.

Moms & Tots

Support groups

Seniors’ groups

Wednesdays Coldbrook and District Apple Valley Seniors meet Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a potluck every third Wednesday of the month. Games and a light lunch at the Seniors’ room of the Lions Hall on South Bishop Rd, Coldbrook.

Wednesdays  Centreville 50 plus association: 1:30 p.m. at the community hall. Bring a friend.

Wednesdays Minas Fifty Plus Seniors Club. New Minas Fire Hall, 1 p.m. Fun, games and light lunch. Monthly potluck first week at noon. New members welcome. Nora, 768-6848, Anita, 678-6741.

Wednesdays and Thursdays New Horizons Seniors Club, 350 Main Street, Kentville.  Club opens at noon for recreational activities such as cards, carpet bowling, WII, crokinole, and many others. Members and friends welcome.

Volunteers needed

The VON Annapolis Valley District volunteers  assist with the community support programs helping seniors, the adult day program, meals on wheels, foot clinics and the safety check-in programs. Call 1-800-411-9646 or 678-1733.

Girl Guides leaders wanted: If you are a female, over the age of 18 who loves to have fun, Guiding is the place to be!  Aylesford units are looking for women who love crafts, adventures, being with girls of all ages, singing, playing games and camping. Cub and Scout leaders wanted: 1st Wolfville Scout Group has openings for Cub and Scout Leaders to volunteer with an already established team of experienced leaders.  Cubs and Scouts meet on Monday and Tuesday nights, respectively, in Wolfville from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Cubs range in age from eight to10 years of age and Scouts are 11to14.  Contact Suzie Blatt (suzie_blatt@hotmail.com or 542-2947) for info.
