It’s high tide on the Bay of Funky. That’s right: ‘Funky,’ because when all the members of the Tidal Funk Orchestra wash up on the stage at Evergreen Theatre in East Margaretsville, funk is what you get. Tidal Funk delivers rave waves of roots music home grown right on the Fundy shore.
July 30 and 31 brings two nights of entertainment for the price of one. As an annual fundraiser for the Evergreen, the folks at TFO are offering both nights for the single ticket price. Can’t decide which night to attend? Come to both and let the Tidal Funk Orchestra do the rest.
For Friday night funk, the TFO comes out with horns blaring. A feel-good mixture of R&B, jazz, and yes… the elusive tidal funk.
Saturday night goes back to the roots. The TFO rocks the house with tribal jams, original tunes, and the free flow of improvisation.
The Tidal Funk Orchestra is: Richard Bennett (keys, trumpet), Jim Butt (drums, vocals), Roger Ellis (vocals, guitar, percussion), Tim Fancey (bass), Nat Fulton (washtub, jaw harp, percussion), John Gillies (mandolin, slide guitar, trumpet), Mike Lethbridge (didgeridoo), Steve Parsons (guitar, vocals, percussion), Mark Towers (saxophone).
Their motto? “You may be surprised … we always are!”
Tickets are $17 for both nights. For information email evergreentheatre@gmail.com or phone 825-6834. To purchase tickets online, go to www.evergreentheatre.ca
