Nova Scotia RCMP are encouraging motorists to monitor local weather reports today as conditions are expected to deteriorate on roadways across the province with a mixture of snow and ice pellets.

Residents planning to travel, are asked to listen to local weather reports, call 511 or check the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal highway cameras at

www.gov.ns.ca/tran/cameras before heading out for an update on conditions.

People should also consider delaying travel plans if road conditions are not ideal.

If travel is a must, police remind motorists to reduce their speed, allow for extra travel time and avoid sudden starts, stops and lane changes or turns during icy conditions.

Visit www.gov.ns.ca/tran/winter for more wintertime driving and travel tips.
