The contingency is subject to the approval of the Department of National Defence, but Kings County council has endorsed more funding for Clements Park infrastructure upgrades.
Certain municipal systems in and around the former Clements Park Personnel Married Quarters in Greenwood were redeveloped as part of a transfer agreement between the Department of National Defence and the municipality. 14 Wing Greenwood is funding upgrades to water and sewer assets and Bedford Road, which have been transferred to the municipality.
Council has approved an additional contingency of $23,255.18 plus HST. The contingency overage was largely due to an increase in the amount of asphalt reinstatement required compared to original contract estimates.
Council awarded the contract for the upgrades to Spicer Construction Limited last year for $1,853,041 with a contingency amount of $185,000 plus HST for potential change orders arising during construction.
