Fifteen RCMP officers in Kings County have joined the Movember movement.

During November, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in Canada and around the world.

Inspector Mike Payne says these officers raise funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health.

He and the 14 other members from New Minas and Kingston detachments all registered on Nov. 1 with clean-shaven faces.

For the rest of the month, Payne says, they effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. The funds raised in Canada are directed to programs run directly by Movember and the major partner, Prostate Cancer Canada.

The Kings Horsemen team is registered on the fund raising web site: http://ca.movember.com/

Payne said that will allow would-be contributors to the team page where donations can be made via a credit card.
