The annual Christmas Mommies and Daddies Telethon and Auction is a collaboration of community groups sharing the same goal: to make Christmas a happier time for local families in need.

The tradition of supporting the Friendly Neighbours Christmas hamper project continues with the 2012 event, scheduled to air live on Eastlink TV on Nov. 25 from the Aylesford fire hall.

Sponsored by EastLink TV, the Lions clubs of Aylesford, Berwick, Coldbrook and Kingston and the Aylesford Fire Department, the annual telethon raises funds for the Christmas hamper initiative which collects and distributes toys, games, books, school supplies, toothbrushes, toothpaste, homemade mittens, clothes, diapers and food to needy families living in the Coldbrook to Kingston area.

Viewers can catch the program from noon until 8 p.m. on Eastlink channel 13 and can place auction bids or make donations by calling 341-3013 locally or toll free at 855-341-3013.  The public is also welcome to drop in to the Aylesford fire hall and experience the live program that includes a line-up of local entertainment and celebrity hosts.

Successful auction bidders can pick up their items at the Aylesford fire hall on the day of the telethon or between 9 a.m. and noon the following day. Items can also be retrieved from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Aylesford Lions Club on Nov. 26.

Pledges can be honoured at Royal Bank branches in Coldbrook and Berwick, Kingston and Greenwood branches of the CIBC, the Bank of Nova Scotia in Middleton and Greenwood, Credit Union locations in Greenwood and Cambridge and Chisholm’s Pharma Choice in Aylesford.
