Kelsey Leanne Pynch made a brief court appearance in Kentville Nov. 26.

The 21-year-old woman from Nicholsville was arrested Oct. 11 and charged with criminal negligence causing the death of Katanna Macdonald and two counts of trafficking in a substance believed to be methadone on June 16, near Middleton, and June 18, near Aylesford.

Twenty-year-old Macdonald died June 21, 2012 after allegedly consuming methadone.

The accused will be back in court Jan. 21, 2013, for election and plea.

Pynch is also scheduled to enter a plea on that date to a charge of shoplifting under $5,000 alleged to have occurred June 22, 201, and to a charge of failing to attend court on Oct. 1 in relation to the shoplifting charge.
