There will be a 68th annual Gala Days celebration in Berwick in 2013, assured Gala Days President Greg Pulsifer.
The planning committee met Nov. 28 for its annual meeting and to hand out funding to youth groups that helped host the 2012 event.
Pulsifer reported changes away from the traditional date, location and a reduced timeframe in which to plan the annual event resulted in less-than-hoped-for revenues, but said organizers remain optimistic changes made “out of necessity” were positive and will ensure the future of Gala Days, which was established to fund youth activity clubs in Berwick and its satellite communities nearly 70 years ago.
Five community youth groups shared in a total of $1,200, which represented 100 percent of funds raised through food sales and fee-for-service agreements at this year’s event.
Planning for the 2013 event, scheduled for Aug. 7-11, is already underway.
