Wolfville’s chief administrative officer has been attending meetings about the proposed Regional Enterprise Networks (RENs).
Diane Mombourquette told town council Dec. 17 initial sessions have been held to “figure out the funding formula, so people can figure if they’re in or not.”
She said financial details should emerge in early January and cooperative documents for a five-year term will be drawn up. She noted discussion had been had around using population, assessment or a mixture of the two to determine municipal contributions.
Mombourquette said she’s comfortable with the new structure’s cost outline and believes Wolfville won’t be spending any more than it did for the Kings RDA.
In the Valley, one REN would serve Kings and Annapolis counties, along with West Hants. Provincial funding would be just under $400,000 for the new area with the 11 municipalities involved expected to match that amount.
