Kids who bring the activity book to the October 30 event will receive a flashing LED pin to wear while trick or treating. The pins are designed to increase children’s visibility on Halloween night, RCMP Community Policing Officer Blair MacMurtery says.
In addition to safety tips, seniors will be offered battery-powered tea lights, he adds. “We recommend, rather than put a candle in your pumpkin, we would like you to illuminate it with a battery operated tea light.”
The project is a partnership between Kings RCMP, Kings County Seniors Safety Program, Home Depot, Safe Communities and the New Minas Fire Department.
