Teenager accused of attempted murder after Kentville disturbance

Kentville Police were called to a disturbance near 13 Chester Ave. very early Aug. 27.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after an early morning incident yesterday on Chester Avenue.

Kentville Police Insp. Ken Reade says the teenager was arrested after officers were called to a disturbance just after midnight Aug. 27 near 13 Chester Ave.

Police found a 21-year-old man with a head injury nearby who was later taken to hospital in Halifax. Reade said the alleged victim is expected to recover.

The teenager also faces charges of aggravated assault, possession  of a weapon dangerous to the public and possession of a firearm, or imitation thereof.  He is expected to make a court appearance in Kentville Aug. 28 and has not yet entered a plea to the charges.

    We can not deny that these things are happening in our quiet little valley towns. For this reason we can not deny the public their right to safety, nor the officers that patrol these streets. No more cuts to the kentville police force council.
