KENTVILLE - A Torbrook man has pleaded not guilty to a charge relating to an alleged purse-snatching incident in Greenwood.

Shawn Douglas Connell, 21, pleaded not guilty to a charge of assaulting a woman with intent to steal her purse during a Feb. 8 appearance in Kentville provincial court. The matter has been adjourned to June 1 for trial.

It’s alleged that Connell committed the offence in Greenwood Nov. 6, 2015. The charge has not been proven in court.

    If the man is guilty I highly recommend that he change his plea and put himself at the mercy of the court. Sentencing after pleading to the court not guilty will likely be much more severe.

    The purse snatching is the assault against the person. Says in the article assault with intent of purse snatching. Somewhat confusing. If the purse snatching is proven to be true he would likely be charged with assault and theft toward the person along with misrepresenting the truth of the crime.
