RCMP have charged a Kings County man for stunting in Cambridge.

The Annapolis Valley's Traffic Services were checking vehicle speeds on Cambridge Mountain Road Nov. 20 and observed a vehicle traveling at 143 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

A 28-year-old man from Kentville was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for Stunting.  The driver has been immediately suspended from driving for a minimum period of one week and his vehicle was seized.

If convicted, the driver could face a fine of $2,412.41 and an automatic six points will be added to his driver's record.

In the same 60 km/h zone, police charged seven other drivers under the Motor Vehicle Act with speeds ranging from 90 to 120 km/h.

Stunting can be defined as traveling more than 50km/h over the posted speed limit.

I live on this road and have noticed the high speed of vehicles since the road was paved. Friday and Saturday evenings and even through the night are even worse. I'm glad that some of them have been caught. Hopefully this will help slow people down, there are a lot of kids on this road, and many pedestrians.
