Burke said Killer Karl Krupp and the Cuban Assassin were tough opponents to deal with in the past, and he’s glad the Beast was his brother so he didn’t have to wrestle him. He preferred wrestling anywhere in the Maritimes to other venues around the globe.

“You fans have supported me for a very long time and I really appreciate it... it’s been quite a ride, with lots of bumps and bruises, but I somehow managed to survive,” he said. “Whether it’s New Brunswick, PEI or here in the Valley, I’m home.”

He said with a laugh he had lots of great memories of the Berwick Arena - and some he’d like to forget, having first appeared in the building in 1969. Burke wrestled in five different decades and held 46 championships over the course of his career. As he pointed out during an in-ring interview with “Captain” Kirk two nights earlier in Windsor, he competed in 28 world championship matches and considers Pat O’Connor and Dory Funk Jr. among the greatest wrestlers.

In other action, former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar “Highlander” Robbie McAllister defeated “Canadian Crazy Horse” Michael Elgin following a splash from the top rope. “Beautiful” Bobby, a star of Spike TV’s Half Pint Brawlers and son of the legendary Lord Littlebrook, pinned Doink the Clown.

Bolen was victorious over “Badness Personified” J.P. Simms. “Commercial Free” Sexton Phoenix scored the three-count over Turkan Celik. “Lumber” Jack Johnson got past the Valley’s own Tristan Strife with Krissy Graves; and Riddick Stone made short work of The Answer and The Demon Kid in a handicap match.
