The Wolfville Tritons Swim Club was a real force at the 2011 East Coast Long Course Championships July 7 to 10 in Halifax, swimming to a strong third place finish in the team standings.

Choquette, 12, won the 200 IM, was second in 400 IM, 200 ’fly and 1,500 free. She placed fifth in 200 back.
Other Tritons contributing to the team’s point total included Kristen MacPherson, 17, with a third in 200 ’fly and 400 IM, fifth in 100 back and 50 backstroke lead and sixth in 100 ’fly and 20 back.

Hayden Adams had six top-10 swims, Samuel Adams and Jessica Bent three each and Kayla Boudreau and Stella Champion-Keating one each.
Wolfville swimmers also earned medals in three relay events. Rebecca MacPherson, Kassandra Parsons, Kristen MacPherson and Carlena Eye were second in the 15 and over girls’ 4X50 freestyle relay.
The same four girls, swimming in a different order, won silver in the open girls’ 4X200 freestyle relay.
Luc Boudreau, Adam Deutsch, Patrick Henger and Hayden Adams earned silver in the 15 and over boys’ 4X50 freestyle relay.
“All our swimmers had a great weekend,” head coach Chris Stone said after the meet. “They’ve been working hard since September, so to see them earn the recognition of a top-three team finish, and beating out several larger teams to do it, is a fitting reward.”
In other news, Patrick Henger and Kassandra Parsons both met the entry standard for the 2011 Canadian Age Group Championships July 27 to 31 at Parc Jean Drapeau in Montreal. They will join Hayden Adams, Kayla Boudreau, Eveline Choquette, Adam Deutsch, Ben Henger, Kristen MacPherson and Rebecca MacPherson, who had already qualified.
“We’re really excited to have so many teammates going this year,” says team captain Kristen MacPherson. “It’s the largest number we’ve ever sent from the club, so it should be really fun to have everyone at the meet.”
In addition, Luc Boudreau will compete at Summer Nationals July 21 to 24 in Pointe Claire, QC.
