The Jocelyn Nix rink from the Glooscap Curling Club was off to a 2-0 start with a pair of wins on the opening day of a qualifier for the Scotties provincial women's curling championship being held in Sydney.     Nix and her teammates Andrea Saulnier, Jill Alcoe-Holland and Julie Morley defeated Theresa Breen of Mayflower 7-6 Friday morning, then topped #2 seed Mary Mattatall of Mayflower 12-5 in the afternoon draw.     A total of 13 rinks were vying for the first six berths in the provincials set for Jan. 22-27 in Halifax.     Team Nix was one of seven rinks to see action twice Friday, and the only one to go 2-0.     Rinks failing to advance from this first qualifier will get a second chance Jan. 2-4 in Port Hawkesbury, where the final two representatives at the provincials will be determined.
