The Kentville Wildcats are in a stretch: all their games seem to be against the NSSBL’s top teams.
The Wildcats hosted Dartmouth June 13 in a make-up.In a closely contested match, Dartmouth scored a run in the eighth and two in the ninth to break a 3-3 tie en route to a 6-3 victory, handing the 2-4 Wildcats their fourth straight loss.
Dartmouth finished with six runs on seven hits, while Kentville ended up with three runs on six hits and committed the game’s only two errors.
Steve Nelson pitched eight innings for the win, with Shain Boudreau pitching the ninth inning to earn a save. Kevin Nichols, who pitched eight innings for the Wildcats before giving way to Curtis Falls, took the loss.
Mike Lockhart had a double and a two-run homer for the Wildcats, driving in all three Kentville runs.
Kentville and Dartmouth resumed their rivalry June 16 in Kentville in their third meeting in less than a week. Next action for the Wildcats is June 23, when they host Halifax at Memorial Park.
