The Northeast Kings Education Centre Titans scored three unanswered third period goals to defeat Barrington 5-2 in the first annual Horton Memorial high school boys' hockey tournament final.

Brady Atwater led the Titans with two goals and an assist in the Dec. 30 game in Berwick. Dylan deGraaf netted the game-winning goal while Connor Dobrota and Isaac Turner (into an empty net) rounded out the scoring.

Doran Arey had both goals for Barrington, which led 2-1 after one period. The Titans tied it up in the second and took control in the third.

NKEC advanced to the final with a 4-1 win over the host Horton Griffins earlier in the day. Turner, Dobrota, de Graaf and Dylan Troop scored for the Titans while Jordan Troop replied for Horton.

In the other semifinal, Barrington shocked Sir John A. Macdonald 4-3 in a shootout.

Barrington's Scotland MacKinnon tied the score with less than a minute left in regulation time. Kegin Penney and Brandon Ryerson scored in the shootout and Chad Harris was perfect in goal.

NKEC (0-0-3) finished the round robin as the top team in the Allen Division, ahead of Barrington and Central Kings, who both ended up 1-2.

In the MacAskill Division, Sir John A. Macdonald (2-0-1) finished in top spot. Horton and Park View were both 1-1-1, but the Griffins won the tiebreaker to advance to the crossover.
