The Kings Mutual major bantam Wildcats entered play this past weekend on a bit of a roll, with four wins and a tie in their five games.

The Wildcats hosted the Newbridge Senators for a pair of games Jan. 21 and 22 in Berwick, winning 4-0 Saturday and 6-1 Sunday to move into fourth place in the standings with a 13-6-7 record for 33 points.

Western Hurricanes continued to lead the standings with 46 points, but second-place ACCEL Hawks had 35, Bedford Barons 34, the Wildcats 33 and Bubba Rays 32 in a close race for second spot.

On Jan. 21, Kings Mutual led 1-0 after one period and 2-0 after two before adding a pair of third period goals to round out the scoring.

MaKail Parker, Michael Dill, call-up Eli Hughes (on the power play) and Dill again (shorthanded) had the Wildcats’ goals, and Colin Beckwith stopped everything aimed his way to earn the shutout.

The same two teams met again the following morning, and MaKail Parker, Ryan Parker and Eli Hughes each scored a pair of goals in the victory.

MaKail Parker’s two goal effort gave him 12 goals on the season, while Ryan Parker’ goals were his eighth and ninth.

Hughes, who had three goals on the weekend, two of them on the power play, had seven goals and two assists in 10 games since being called up from bantam AA.
