Nominations are now being accepted to fill two vacant seats on the Kingston village commission.
At the November 12 meeting of the village commission, chairman Tom Beardsley announced nominations will be received at the village office until 4 p.m. Nov. 25.
To be eligible for a seat on the five-member commission, applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have lived in the village for at least six months. Commissioners receive an annual stipend of $3,000.
If more than two nominations are filed, an election will be held Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Kingston Lions Hall.
Both open positions will run for a term of approximately six months, until the next annual general meeting of the village commission.
Beardsley also announced the village’s long-vacant position of clerk-treasurer will be filled, effective Nov. 16, by Greg Town, who has been serving as interim clerk-treasurer on a part-time basis since the departure of Bill MacKennan. The full-time position has been vacant since the winter of 2008.
