Valley teams won eight medals – two gold, five silver and one bronze – at the 23rd annual Gunn Baldursson Memorial women’s soccer tournament played last weekend.
Two of the medals came in the women’s 7-Aside division, where Windsor Hooters lost 6-1 to Supersonics in the gold medal match to claim silver, and Kentville Wizards captured bronze with a 2-1 win over United.
In U-14 Tier 2B, East Kings Levy won gold with a 4-0 win over Upper County United. Northern Nova nipped Kings West Russell 1-0 for bronze.
In U-16 Tier 2B, Kings West Bowker won gold with a 3-1 win over Yarmouth Clippers.
In U-12 A, Valley United was edged out 1-0 by Halifax County in the gold medal match to settle for silver. In U-12 B, East Kings Kehoe settled for silver following a 3-2 loss to Halifax County United.
In U-16 Tier 1, Suburban edged Valley United 1-0 in the gold medal match.
In U-18 Tier 1, Dartmouth United blanked Valley United 2-0 to win gold, while Valley settled for silver.
Other gold medal winners included Suburban in U-14 Tier 1, Halifax County in U-14 Tier 2A, Scotia Hepditch in U-16 Tier 2A, Dartmouth United in U-18 Tier 2 (West Hants lost to Halifax City in the bronze medal match), and Scotia Toros in Senior B.
