The Valley District Soccer Association has announced that two members of the bronze-medal winning Canadian women’s soccer team will be visiting the area next month.

Diana Matheson and Rhian Wilkerson will visit the Valley Sport and Multipurpose Centre in Kentville Dec. 9 and take part in a meet and greet session from 5-7 p.m.

Both Matheson, a midfielder from Oakville, ON, and Wilkerson, a fullback from Baie d’Urfe, QC, played important roles for Canada at the London Olympics.

Matheson scored the winning goal for Canada in the bronze medal game against France, the only goal in a 1-0 Canada win.

“We are happy and excited to be able to provide our membership the chance to meet these two young ladies,” VDSA executive director Dwight MacLeod said.

The VDSA encourages players, coaches, club members and the general public to come out and meet Matheson and Wilkerson and have an opportunity for photos and autographs.
