The New Minas-based women’s clothing store, offering a range of sizes from plus to petite, is slated for closure later this month. It is located in the Silver Fox Avenue shopping plaza that once housed Future Shop, and is still home to Winners.

A sign posted on the front door of Reitmans lists June 27 as the final day the store will be open, and prompts customers to visit the company’s website to find more locations.

Tarina Bambrick was disappointed to hear of the impending closure. A longtime Reitmans customer, Bambrick said she’d rather have the option to go into a store and try clothes on than shop online.

“The closure will leave few choices for women's clothing; especially for those of us in their 40s and 50s who buy the petite line of clothing for women under 5'4,” wrote Bambrick in a recent e-mail to Kings County News.

“I'm no fashionista, but I could usually always find something I liked at Reitmans.”

Bambrick said she’s heard of other customers disheartened to learn that Reitmans is closing, and she’s even prompted a fellow shopper to contact the company’s customer service line.

“I called the customer service line and told them how disappointed I was it was closing, as I had been shopping at the store for over 30 years I'm sure. It's been in New Minas forever. Before it's current location on Silver Fox Ave it was in the County Fair Mall,” said Bambrick.

Kings County News contacted the office of Reitmans CEO Jeremy Reitman June 19, but has yet to receive a response.
