Annapolis Royal celebrates Canada Day


ANNAPOLIS ROYAL, NS - There was lots going on in Annapolis Royal on Canada Day 2018 as hundreds of people converged on the town for food and fun that included Shakespeare by the Shore from Young Company, free lobster rolls at the wharf, and numerous events at town hall and Fort Anne.

Young Company members were the stars of the day as they performed parts of five of William Shakespeare’s plays woven together by Linda Hulme Leahy and co-directed with Simon Bonnington.

The day started with Young Company at the Amphitheatre, followed by Canada Day ceremonies at the steps of town hall, including a proclamations by Town Crier Peter Davies and a flag-raising by a member of the Annapolis Royal Police Department.

There were numerous events at Fort Anne until 3 p.m. and then hundreds lined up to receive their free lobster roll and a spot at one of the many tables set up on the wharf.

The Kevin Davison Band and Rain Over St. Ambrose performed at the Amphitheatre in the evening.

Other events included the weekly craft beer market, and events at Historic Gardens.
