KINGSTON - The Village of Kingston has a series of events planned to close out 2017.
The New Year’s Eve 2017 Community Celebration will begin with family-friendly activities at the Credit Union Centre at 1490 Westwood Street. There will be family skating, face and finger painting, hot chili, popcorn, balloon creations, live entertainment with Bob Deveau, hot chocolate and cider and Jimmie dogs.
Donations of cash or non-perishable food items will be accepted for the Kingston area’s Upper Room Food Bank.
“The Kingston New Years event is completely supported by our community businesses and organizations. The food, fireworks and activities are there to be enjoyed by local community residents and the generous food bank donations go right back to help families within our community who are facing some very real and challenging circumstances,” said Village of Kingston recreation co-ordinator Glen Abriel.
“Every year the hope is that we can donate more food and give more financial support to the Upper Room Food bank than we did the year before.”
A poster promoting the event promises that a big fireworks show will follow, taking place in the Superstore parking lot at 9 p.m. Dec. 31. A storm date has been set for Jan. 1.
“This annual free community event is hosted within the Village of Kingston as a way for community residents to gather together, enjoy some free food, some physical activity and share the joy of the season with others.”
