RCMP open house a hit with Hants County kids

WINDSOR, N.S. — Children were eager to tour the jail cells and hop in the backseat of a police car when they visited the Windsor Rural police detachment May 17.

The RCMP hosted the open house to celebrate National Police Week. They invited several community groups – including West Hants Ground Search and Rescue, the Seniors Safety Program of Hants West, and Crime Stoppers – to participate in the displays.

Visitors were treated to a tour of the holding cells, invited to climb into the backseat of a cruiser or onto an ATV, eat cake, and learn more about pursuing a career in law enforcement.

National Police Week runs from May 14-20.

More information about events planned for the week can be found online at http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/news/2017/celebrate-national-police-week-nova-scotia-rcmp.
