BRAMBER NS – Three Valley faces adorn the Ecology Action Centre’s new fundraising calendar: Erica Porter of Bramber is the face of March, Dakota Varen is May and Shaani Singh of Grand Pre is September.

Porter is the only female weir fisher on the Hants County shore. She has been working with her father since she was 16.

Varen is a farmer, writer and organizer living in Tremont. While she has been farming for five years, she and her partner recently settled on a small farm of their own.

Singh helps run the Just Us! Centre for Small Farms in Grand Pre and she has studied biodiversity as far away as India.

The 2017 Green Jobs Calendar features stories from inspiring people from across Nova Scotia who work in the growing, green economy.

The calendar features organic farmers, small-scale fishers, renewable energy installers and energy efficiency experts.

Nova Scotia has a lot to celebrate, says Stephen Thomas, who is the energy campaign coordinator. “Considering our region’s challenges, and our collective responsibility in the face of climate change, it is clear that we must move ambitiously toward a just transition to a low-carbon society,” he says.

“We think that this calendar highlights the strength, diversity and innovation that is coming out of Nova Scotia as we head in that direction.”

The $15 calendar is available at Just Us! outlets in Wolfville and Grand Pre. All proceeds go toward the Ecology Action Centre's Energy Action Team.

It can also be ordered online. https://ecologyaction.ca/greenjobscalendar
