A local business is doing its part to make the living room-themed common space envisioned for the new Berwick Library become a reality.
The Kings Mutual Insurance Company is donating $15,000 to help furnish the living room common area that will be connected to the developing library’s main entrance.
“The space, which will be known as the Kings Mutual Living Room, is intended as a place where everyone can sit, relax, have conversations, and meet with friends and neighbours,” states a press release issued by Annapolis Valley Regional Library (AVRL).
“We consider the library to be the community’s living room,” said Berwick Library branch manager Barbara Lipp in the AVRL’s Nov. 2 press release.
“With this donation, we can furnish the space and make it welcoming to everyone.”
The new library will be housed in the municipal complex building that’s under construction in the Town of Berwick. It is anticipated the doors could open to the Berwick Library’s new branch as early as January 2017.
The AVRL press release says the library will be connected to an outdoor space with a patio and garden.
“The library is at the heart of the community, and that’s where our roots started,” said Darrel Coats, Senior Vice President of Kings Mutual Insurance Company.
