BERWICK, NS - There were teddy bears of all shapes and sizes on hand for the Berwick Gala Days teddy bear picnic in Rainforth Park.
Kids were invited to bring their teddy bear to the park for an afternoon of fun on Sept. 1 and there was cake, a wide variety of games and activities – with prizes to be won.
Children had the chance to make a teddy bear mask, try their hand at the “Bear in a Bucket” teddy bear toss, navigate an obstacle course, dress their teddy bear up at the Teddy’s Closet Dress-up station and play games with a parachute led by Sara White.
The picnic was one of many events that made up the 2018 Berwick Gala Days, running from Aug. 29 to Sept. 3. The fun concludes today, Sept. 3, with the Grand Street Parade and the BMX bike demonstration getting underway at 1 p.m.
The first Gala Day was held on Sept. 2, 1945. Sponsored by the Berwick Amateur Athletic Association, the purpose was to raise funds to improve Rainforth Park. It has since expanded to a multi-day event that attracts approximately 12,000 people annually.
