Accused in pot trafficking bust in court

Six people arrested after a large pot bust in South Alton Sept. 19 were in Kentville court Nov. 26. The five men and women are charged with unlawfully producing marijuana and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.  

The accused are: Wayne Brenton Medicraft, 46, of South Alton; Ralph Albert Medicraft, 66, of South Alton;  Jason Keith Hiltz, 39, of South Alton; Michael Vincent Boylan, 26, of Berwick;  Laura Lee Medicraft, 42, of South Alton; and Codey Jerome Ernst, 20, of South Alton.

Boylan and Laura Lee Medicraft also face charges of possession of hydromorphone contin and dilaudid.

Ernst is also charged with violating a probation order.

All six will return to court Dec. 10 for election and plea.

According to information provided by Kentville Police and Kings RCMP in September, a 16-year-old girl was also arrested and charged. 

More than 90 pounds of marijuana in various stages of production was seized from the property. Kings RCMP Insp. Mike Payne has said the approximate street value of the drugs seized was $45,000.
