Kentville Police charge impaired driver after being involved in two collisions

KENTVILLE, NS - A Kentville man will appear in provincial court in March on charges relating to two collisions on Belcher Street near the Nova Scotia Community College Kingstec Campus.

Police received a call at around 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 19 and responded along with members of the Kentville Fire Department and Emergency Health Services paramedics.

Once on the scene, it was determined that two separate collisions had taken place. Further investigation resulted in the male driver of a car involved in both incidents being arrested for impaired driving.

According to a news release from the Kentville Police Service, the accused driver collided with a vehicle at Belcher Street and Mahone Place. The accused continued down Belcher Street, where he collided with a second vehicle with three occupants.

The accused male driver and two passengers from the second collision were transported to Valley Regional Hospital for treatment and were later released.

A 49-year-old Kentville man was held in police custody overnight and was released on Feb. 20. He’s scheduled to appear in Kentville provincial court on March 27 on charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm; driving while his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit of 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
