Kings District RCMP warn of stolen cheques in circulation

NEW MINAS - Police are advising businesses and banks to be aware of stolen and altered cheques circulating in the area.

“On March 13, Kings District RCMP received a complaint of stolen cheques that had been taken from a residence in Port Williams, altered and cashed at local businesses in the area,” a media release issued by Kings District RCMP March 14 reads.

“The name on the stolen cheques is Wharf General Store and this business has been closed for years.”

Anyone with information on this crime, or anyone who has received/cashed a cheque from Wharf General Store, is asked to call Kings District RCMP at 902-679-5555.
