BLACK RIVER - For the second day, searchers are looking for a missing New Ross man in the waters of Black River Lake.

Kings District RCMP spokeswoman Const. Kelli Gaudet confirmed Feb. 15 that the RCMP underwater rescue team is still at the lake.

As of 1:30 p.m., searchers and the dive team were still visible on the lake ice looking for the man.

Three snowmobilers, part of a larger group crossing the lake near the narrows, fell through the ice between 9 and 10 p.m. Feb. 13. Two men were pulled out of the water and taken to hospital.

Searchers have been at the lake since the accident, but RCMP say a 26-year-old New Ross man has not been located.

Temperatures in the area were below minus 10 C the morning of Feb. 15 and had dipped as low as minus 16 since the man went into the lake.

The missing man's name has not been released.
