Downtown Windsor Mall briefly evacuated after child pulls fire alarm
WINDSOR, N.S. — Staff and visitors to the Windsor Mall were evacuated briefly April 19 after a fire alarm sounded just before the lunch hour.
Firefighters tackled a tricky mid-afternoon house fire on Mount Hanley Road while contending with the wind April 19.
MOUNT HANLEY, NS - The homeowner paced back and forth as firefighters battled an inferno consuming his heritage-style home on Mount Hanley Road.
Flames quickly spread throughout the back of the home, reducing the roof and walls to charred remains.
“The breeze that was blowing certainly didn’t help things,” said Whitman.
All of the occupants were out of the large, multi-level wooden structure before firefighters arrived, Whitman added. A horse trailer parked behind the house also caught fire, but firefighters worked tirelessly to prevent the flames from
Departments from Kingston, Margaretsville, Middleton, Nictaux, Port Lorne and Bridgetown offered mutual aid.
Thick, black smoke could be seen from Highway 1 near the base of the mountain, and closer to the shore of the Bay of Fundy.
This is the second fire in the area in the past week. On April 15, there was a fire in a shed along the same road.
