AYLESFORD EAST – It had all the makings of an April Fools’ Day joke, but Sunday’s report of a bull on the loose was no laughing matter.

The one-tonne bull had a temporary taste of freedom after it jumped out its holding pen on a farm near Highway 101 in Aylesford East and headed for the hills in the early evening April 1.

The Kingston RCMP detachment issued a statement to warn that public that the black and white bull, believed to be wandering around a wooded area between Long Point Road and Highway 1, could pose as a danger to the public or a traffic hazard.

But it appears the bull’s belly got the best of it.

“It returned home to its barn, where it was found by its owner lying down and eating hay,” an RCMP release circulated April 2 reads.

“Kingston RCMP would like to thank the public for sharing details about the missing bull through social media.”
