KENTVILLE - A 25-year-old man is facing charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose following a public altercation in Kentville.

Kentville Police Service members were called to Webster Street shortly after 9 a.m. March 1 to assist with a dispute involving three males.

“When police arrived a 29-year-old male victim was located suffering from non-life threatening knife wounds. He was transported to the Valley Regional Hospital for treatment,” said Kentville Police Service Chief Julia Cecchetto in a media release issued shortly before noon March 1.

Around 9:40 a.m. several drops of blood were visible on the sidewalk between the Centre Square Tim Hortons and nearby CIBC, and officers could be seen gathering information in the area.

The 25-year-old suspect was found on Prospect Avenue. He was arrested, and expected to appear in Kentville provincial court later that same day.

“The parties are known to each other and this was not a random act,” said Cecchetto.
