Custody for various offences

Briant William Greencorn, 32, of Kentville, has been sentenced to jail time for several offences, including assault, failing to comply with his undertaking and failing to comply with his recognizance.

Greencorn changed his plea to guilty to the recognizance charge on Aug. 8 and changed his pleas to guilty to the assault and undertaking charges on Aug. 20. Once credit was given at time-and-a-half for time spent remanded in custody, Judge Christopher Manning sentenced Greencorn 28 days in custody on the three charges.

Greencorn was sentenced to 70 days in custody on the assault charge, less a 69-day credit for time spent remanded in custody, leaving one day to serve. He was sentenced to 30 days for failing to comply with his undertaking, less a three-day credit given for time spent remanded in custody, leaving 27 days to serve. Greencorn was sentenced to 30 days in custody, to be served concurrently, for failing to comply with his recognizance. He was also sentenced to 12 months of probation on the three charges.

Greencorn committed the offences in North Kentville on Nov. 28 and Dec. 10, 2017, and in Kentville on July 2. Charges of unlawfully entering a house with intent to commit an indictable offence therein and resisting a police officer engaged in the execution of his duty were dismissed.
