This is the latest court report for Kings and West Hants counties.

Unlawfully possessed marijuana

Craig Allen Gidney, 42, of Digby, has been sentenced to jail time for unlawfully possessing not in excess of 30 grams of cannabis marijuana.

Gidney pleaded guilty to the charge on May 22. Judge Alan Tufts sentenced Gidney to 45 days in custody, consecutive to a federal sentence currently being served.

Gidney committed the offence in Kentville on April 9.

Breathalyser offence

Jeremy Thomas Floris, 24, of Middleton, has been fined for operating a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.

Floris pleaded guilty to the charge on May 22. Judge Alan Tufts fined Floris a total of $1,300 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against him.

Floris committed the offence in New Minas on March 25. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Floris gave breathalyser readings of 110 and 110.
