RCMP investigating fishing boat burned in Weymouth North fire

WEYMOUTH, NS – RCMP are investigating an incident involving a fire on a fishing boat October 5 in Weymouth.

Weymouth and St. Bernard Fire Departments put out a fire aboard Amanda's Pride at the slip in Weymouth North.

The Weymouth Fire Department responded to the fire at approximately 7:20 a.m., according to Fire Chief Roy Mullen.
The St. Bernard Fire Department arrived soon after.
“The fire was contained to the boat’s wheelhouse, where it would have originated,” said Mullen.
Extensive damage to the boat was also contained to that area.

The boat was out of the water at the Weymouth North slip, where it had just been freshly painted.
No one was injured from the fire, and the fire fighters left the scene after 9:50 a.m.
Mullen said RCMP were at the scene this morning.
The RCMP have confirmed the fire is being treated as ‘suspicious,’ and the incident is under investigation.
