Deputy Fire Chief Jamie Juteau, of the Windsor Fire Department, said nearly two dozen firefighters responded to a call for assistance at an apartment complex in the 500 block of King Street Sunday night. The call came in at 11:23 p.m. July 16.
No one was injured in the incident.
“Upon arrival, there were people outside saying there was a bedroom fire,” said Juteau.
“Our first pumper in, we had the truck pull right up to the scene, (and) the crew ran a line inside and knocked the fire down in the bedroom and then we overhauled it to make sure it didn't spread to the neighbouring apartments,” Juteau said.
Hantsport firefighters provided mutual aid by standing in at the Windsor station.
The deputy fire chief said there are upwards of seven or eight apartments in the old building and “everyone was cooperative” as they tackled the fire.
“There were no crowd control problems; there were no issues, quite frankly. We could've potentially had some – it's an old building – if [the fire] had've gotten away from us and into the wall,” said Juteau.
At 12:45 a.m. July 17, Juteau said they were still investigating the cause of the fire. He said just the tenants in the unit that had the fire would be displaced for the evening.
