Winter storm brings slew of cancellations across Annapolis Valley

ANNAPOLIS VALLEY, N.S. - A powerful blizzard is dropping snow and powerful winds across Nova Scotia - and with that, delays and cancellations are affecting services and institutions all over the province.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Annapolis County that calls for 15 to 20 centimetres of snow starting early in the morning.

All CCRSB schools, offices & worksites closed tomorrow, Monday, February 13, 2017

Students, parents, guardians & school board staff are advised that all schools, offices and work sites in the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board, will be closed February 13, 2017, due to the impending weather. This includes the counties of Cumberland, Colchester and Pictou, as well as the Municipality of East Hants.

This also means that any scheduled Grade Primary registration sessions for tomorrow are also cancelled.

All HRSB schools and offices are closed on Monday, February 13, 2017 due to the forecasted blizzard.

All ambulatory (outpatient) clinics  in the Halifax area (not including IWK Health Centre) and West Hants are closed today (Monday Feb 13)

*For patients on chemotherapy, radiation therapy and dialysis, please contact the unit directly.

·If you have a scheduled appointment at an NSHA facility Monday, Feb. 13., please only come if it is safe to do so. If you cannot attend, your appointment or treatment will be rescheduled.

·Elective surgeries at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, Hants Community Hospital and Dartmouth General Hospital have been cancelled Monday, Feb. 13.. Patients are being contacted to advise them.

·Some ambulatory (outpatient) clinics have been cancelled Monday, Feb. 13. and patients are being notified.

·The following blood collection locations will be closed Monday, Feb. 13.:

The STD clinic at the VG site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre is cancelled Monday, Feb. 13.

Diagnostic imaging services at Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital are cancelled Monday, Feb. 13.

UPDATE: Justice Centres closing in Kentville, Windsor, Yarmouth, Bridgewater, Antigonish, Pictou, Annapolis, Digby and Shubenacadie.  

Middleton Town Hall administrative offices closed today.

The AVRL Administration Office will be closed Monday, February 13, due to weather.

Kentville Library is closed Mon Feb 13.
The Kentville Library is closed for the day Mon Feb 13 due to weather conditions.

If AVRSB schools are closed due to inclement winter weather, either across the valley, or in a particular county/area - then all children's library programs for that day in that area will be cancelled as well.

Severe weather conditions are currently impeding mail delivery in rural regions of Nova Scotia, notably Digby and Antigonish. While every effort is being made to deliver the mail, some customers may not receive mail today. Once the conditions improve, normal delivery will resume.
