Catherine Schofield — Wolfville

Catherine Elizabeth “Kay” Schofield - died January 19, 2017 in the Wolfville Nursing Home aged 91. Born in Wedgeport, Nova Scotia, on April 20, 1925, daughter of the late Jessie LeBlanc. She lived in Yarmouth, NS; Saint John, New Brunswick; Ladner, British Columbia; Ottawa, Ontario; Val Cartier, Quebec; Wolfville and Kentville, Nova Scotia. Her husband, Ralph, predeceased her in 2012. He served for more than 30 years in the Canadian Army Royal Signals Corps and later with the Canadian Security Establishment. Kay worked in Ottawa as a federal employee with StatsCan. She loved gardening and preparing preserves and was famous for her fruit cakes. She is survived by her sister, Esther (Gordon) Eastwood of Porters Lake and sister-in-law, Josephine (Don) Beckwith along with several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Father Craig Cameron officiating, Burial will take place in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Cemetery, Ridge Road. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville, Nova Scotia.
